Is video chat with strangers safe?
Mostly, yes, and it helps to be honest about the rest. Every site that connects strangers will have some people who are rude, some who are pushy, and a few who are trying to scam. That is not a reason to stay away. It is a reason to know what to do when it happens.
On CamGoChat you can leave any call with one tap, and report and block are on the call screen. A person you block is not paired with you again. Everything else on this page is about habits that make those tools needed less often.
One more thing helps more than any rule: remembering that you are in charge. Nobody can make you keep a camera on, answer a question or stay on a call. You can switch to text chat with strangers for a while whenever you want more distance.

Ten habits that keep a call comfortable
- Use a first name only. Your surname, address and workplace can stay out of it.
- Check your background before you tap start. Windows, mail and name badges give things away.
- Choose Audio or Text if you want more distance. You can switch formats on any match.
- Give a call thirty seconds, and leave sooner if it feels wrong.
- Never send money, gift cards or codes to someone you have just met.
- Do not click links from strangers, even friendly ones.
- Be wary if someone moves the conversation to another app in the first few minutes.
- Assume anything you show on camera could be recorded by the other person.
- Take breaks. Ten calls in a row is tiring, and tired people overshare.
- Trust the feeling that something is off. Tap Next without explaining.
You will not need all ten every time. They are a checklist to come back to after a bad call.
Block and report in three taps
- Open the options on the call screenReport and block sit there on every call, so you do not have to hunt for them.
- Choose block, report, or bothPick a reason if you are asked. Blocking is instant.
- Tap NextYou move on to a new match, and the person you blocked is not paired with you again.
You never need to wait for something serious. Rude, pushy and uncomfortable are all good enough reasons. The behaviour that is not allowed on any call is set out in the community guidelines.
Scams and red flags
Scammers follow patterns, and the patterns are easy to learn.
- A request for money, gift cards or crypto, for any reason, including an emergency or a "verification fee".
- A rush to move elsewhere. "Add me on another app right now" in the first minute is a signal.
- A link you did not ask for. It may be a fake login page or something worse.
- A sad story that ends in a payment. The sequence matters more than the story.
- Flattery that arrives very fast, followed by a favour.
If you see any of these, tap Next, then block and report. For girl video calls specifically, what to expect and what not to is worth reading before your first one.
Privacy basics for anonymous chat
Starting as a guest means you are not asked for a name, email or phone number. That helps, but the other person still sees what your camera shows and hears what you say. Anonymous does not mean invisible. Private rooms and anonymous video chat explains the difference in more detail.
Remember that you cannot control what the other person does on their side. They might take a screenshot. They might record their screen. So the rule is simple: do not show or say anything on a call that you would not be comfortable seeing again later.
How we handle your information is described in the privacy policy.

Help and safety: common questions
What happens when I block someone?
You stop being paired with that person. It takes effect immediately, and you can keep chatting with others.
What happens when I report someone?
Your report is sent to our team along with the reason you give. Reports help us act on repeat problems, so report even when you simply moved on.
Can other people see where I am?
We do not show your location to other users. But your background, accent and what you say can give clues, so share carefully.
Is it safer to use text or audio?
They share less than video does, so yes, they give you more distance. The red flags in this guide apply to every format.
